The West Willson Parent Association will host its First Annual Partners in Education (PIE) Gala. This will be a Mardi Gras Masquerade to raise funds for the purchase of new playground equipment at Gordon L. Willson Elementary School.
The event will feature a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres donated by local businesses, a rockin' DJ, photo booth, and a jazzy Mardi Gras Masquerade theme. Come dressed up, wear a mask and be Partners in Education.
This event is open to the Baraboo public, 21 and older. GLW was originally constructed in 1969-70. Additions to the building were completed in 1987 and 1989. The majority of the current playground equipment is the original equipment installed in 1969-70; this equipment is 46 years old. There have only been two pieces added since this origin, and those two pieces were installed in 1994/96; therefore 18 years old. Within the past four years, three different pieces of equipment have been removed due to safety concerns. None of these pieces were replaced, so there are large voids in the playground space.
The West Willson Parent Association, comprised of parent volunteers, is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the schools we serve. All money raised during this event will go toward the playground fund. The approximate cost for the new playground structures and installation is $100,000.
